I have many customers ask me what they can do to help save money on a remodeling project. Here are a few ideas that I typically advise:

  1. Purchase your own kitchen appliances, fixtures, cabinet pull knobs.
  2. For the bathroom, purchase your own faucets, shower valves, shower heads, and towel
    rods, rings, and hooks.
  3. Choose a tile for bathroom floors and shower walls that is less than $4.75 per square foot. However, for the shower floor and back wall, spend more and make this one of the focal points. The same can be said about a kitchen backsplash; spend more there and you will be pleased.
  4. Everyone seems to like quartz countertops. However, if your budget says no, then choose an attractive granite at a lesser cost.
  5. How about cabinets? We understand new cabinets look great and are needed at times. however, here are a few suggestions that are more affordable than replacing all of the cabinets:
    – Change the colors by painting the exterior of the cabinets.
    – Replace the doors and drawer fronts with a style that is more modern.
    – Change out the old hardware for soft close door hinges and drawer slides.
    – Add interior tray slides for holding pots and pans.
    – If the sink cabinet has water damage, replace the lower floor and under structure of the cabinet without replacing the whole thing.
